I am sure that this blog will go no where... but I want to archive the things I do somewhere! I am a SAHM (stay at home mom) living in Toronto. With my HB paying the bills for the 5 of us, there is no way I can afford the styles I see in House and Home. But I do like to decorate and I do want the things I see! So what to do? Well, I've started scouring second hand shops, road sides (much to the dismay of my HB since I send him to pick it up in his truck!) consignment shops and garage sales. I can't say that I am an expert by any means, and I don't really have the time I would like to spend going from place to place with 3 kids, of which only one is in school full time. So the pieces I pick up are few and far between, and of course takes ages for me to finish, but hey... what else do I have to do?
So I will start with today's find, and slowly add things I have already done (as I find pictures). Maybe someone will be inspired. Maybe people will want to send me free stuff (?!?!). Maybe I can make a career out of it? Probably not. Anywho, here it goes. THIS is the bar cart that I have been coveting. I love the brass, the glass and the shape. Unfortunately, due to the aforementioned lack of funds... I cannot afford the $1000 price tag that comes along with it. So, today I headed to The Elegant Garage Sale on Bayview in Toronto. No luck there (but there maybe another story later!) so I went across the street to Pangello's Anquiques and found:
THIS for $50! So ya, not as nice. But super sturdy (I got the guy from the store to carry it for me) and it APPEARS to be brass and metal. Unfortunately no glass top, or mirror top. But there is a guy on Browns Line here in the coke who I think can help me out. So stay tuned!
